Therapist

Allison is a Therapist at Trisha Johnson Therapy Group with nearly a decade experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both educational and private practice settings. She brings with her a myriad of experience with crisis intervention, special education consultation, social-emotional support, and parent education skills.

Allison specializes in Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, and Autism in children and adolescents. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and takes a play-based and activity approach to therapy, when appropriate, including games and role-plays. With her special education background, Allison is able to seamlessly communicate with schools and coordinate therapeutic services.

With adults, Allison takes a special interest in empowering women through an Existential-Humanistic approach that is strengths-based and positive. This approach focuses on the here and now, while also addressing how past traumas and experiences continue to affect today’s reality. Allison strives to ensure that the counseling relationship is a safe space for all of her clients to share and grow to their greatest potential.

Allison is a former school psychologist and holds a Masters degree in Educational Psychology and an Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from Loyola University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is currently pursuing her LPC license with a certificate in Couples and Family Therapy at Northeastern Illinois University.

When not working, Allison has many creative outlets including performing in musical productions, producing children’s theatre shows, going to pilates, reading, and playing with her dog, Leonard. She is also a wedding planner and day-of coordinator in the Chicagoland area.
