Karen is a Therapist at Trisha Johnson Therapy Group with extensive experience working in varied settings including private practice and therapeutic day schools. She has a deep passion for working with children and adolescents within the neurodiverse population.
Karen is a licensed social worker and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and her Master’s in Social Work from Aurora University. She has a background in providing social emotional learning to students in both individual and group settings.
Karen utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Strengths Based Therapy as evidenced based interventions in her practice. She provides acceptance and an empathetic approach in her practice in order to give support for individuals experiencing anxiety and depression. She also focuses on teaching social emotional skills with the aim of increasing transference of newly learned skills in various settings.
During her free time Karen enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and being involved in her community.
