Lizzy is a Therapist at Trisha Johnson Therapy Group with experience in middle school, high school, college, and private practice settings. From adolescents 12+ to middle aged adults, much of her experience is with anxiety, depression, trauma, bullying, grief and loss, PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication skills, athletes, and career coaching.
Lizzy is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minor in Religion from Carthage College and received her Master’s degrees in Counseling with specialization in School Counseling and Sport and Exercise Psychology from Northern Illinois University along with receiving her Trauma-Informed Counseling Certificate.
On the sport psychology side Lizzy helps athletes with mental performance skills such as pre-performance routine, imagery, breathing techniques, reset mantra, positive self-talk and goal setting. She enjoys working with athletes that play softball, basketball, swimming, baseball, football, golf, wrestling, figure skating, soccer and dance. She also has experience coaching softball at Conant High School and basketball at Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy (6-8 grade). She loves working with student-athletes and helping them achieve their goals.
Lizzy uses a plethora of therapeutic approaches such as Client-Centered, Strength-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Creative Arts, as well as Spirituality-Centered counseling when requested. She strives to make clients feel heard and understood in their journey, while providing them with skills to achieve their goals.
When Lizzy isn’t working with her dedicated clients she is spending time with family, friends, and her pup, Princess Leia. She self cares by doing yoga, going for walks in nature, and crafting.
