Trisha Johnson has over 15 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings. She specializes in trauma, mood disorders, eating disorders, school refusal, and school related issues. Trisha pulls from Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy frameworks to assist each client in becoming curious around patterns that are no longer serving them to become a more authentic and connected version of themselves.
Trisha Johnson currently works as a SD54 Behavior Coach, assisting school teams in creating plans to help students thrive. Prior to founding Trisha Johnson Therapy Group, Trisha spent six years as a School Social Worker in SD54 where she helped students and their parents navigate the educational environment and its impact on students’ mental health. She has also spent time as a Treatment Supervisor with Abraxas in Woodridge, Illinois, and a Community Support Specialist with Thresholds in Chicago, Illinois.
Trisha received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Northern Illinois University and her Masters in Social Work from Aurora University, where she also served as the Secretary of the Human Rights Organization. During her time at Aurora University, she also was a lead coordinator of a mental health grant that focused on youth participatory leadership.
She has published multiple articles and presented at numerous conferences around the world including Kampala, Uganda and San Francisco, California.
When Trisha isn’t working, you can find her spending time with her family, reading, or spending time outdoors.
